Sky Van Iderstine is equal parts technologist, entrepreneur, and designer. He cut his teeth studying mechanical engineering and industrial design at Virginia Tech where he started two companies which both successfully brought innovative consumer products to market. Sky’s focus on additive manufacturing at Virginia Tech and his experience leveraging the technology to bring 3D printed products to market made him the ideal candidate for exploring applications of additive manufacturing at Stanley Black and Decker.
Since joining Stanley Black and Decker in 2017, he’s pursued hundreds of applications for 3D printing, performed technological due diligence on multiple AM investments, improved access to and knowledge of AM across the company, mentored dozens of AM startups, and contributed to the shaping of the company’s AM strategy. Now he’s looking toward the horizon to identify and develop emerging opportunities for Stanley Black & Decker in the bourgeoning digital fabrication industry.
Sky has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
